No he did not talk like someone with a mental problem, he knew the reason why & that he was being executed.

There is a difference between sex offender's & peds. Ped's even say they cannot control it.
What is a MRI ? Cruel & torture for the ped who has raped a child? Maybe we could shut off their impulses?
Debate all ya want, the title of this tread is what to do with them, I say for the ped who raped start with an MRI.

Having a heart attack is not a choice either. Depends on where the tumor is. How much would you risk to back up the absurd proposition that all those with brain tumors are pedophiles? Even Sam Harris wouldn't agree with you. Brain malformations do not vitiate freedom of action. They do not replace moral agency. I never stated all" brain tumor are peds. I simply stated" if a known ped do an MRI to check on them. The frontal lobe area controls our judgenent, impulse control, social & sexual behavior & much more.

murder's too. All peds should have an MRI. One man raped a child, they found a tumor on his Rt frontal lobe. After removed his obsession faded. One yr later he was fixated on children again, the tumor was also growing back. Not really a choice it's the wiring in the brain as some believe too. Guess that is a beginning on what to do with them. How do you explain all the law-abiding people with such tumors? It's always a choice. I disagree, it is not always a choice. Having a heart attack is not a choice either. Depends on where the tumor is. Nothing wrong with starting with an MRI.

a good majority rape & murder the child. I doubt the majority do. The majority of child rapes are within families. murder's too. All peds should have an MRI. [quote source="/post/625142/thread" timestamp Punishing child rape the same as murder is going to get a lot of raped children killed. That's just common sense. Actually a good majority rape & murder the child.

An execution date of January 29 has been set for Ladd, who was convicted of raping and killing a woman in Tyler nearly 20 years ago. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice reports Ladd, 57, is set to be put to death by lethal injection January 29 for the rape and strangulation murder of Vicki Ann Garner on September 25, 1996. According to court documents, Ladd also robbed her home before setting it on fire. How do the victim's family feel when - Ladd was also convicted of murdering a woman and her two children and then setting her house on fire in 1978. He was released from prison after serving 16 years of a 40-year sentence. There are now mental impairment issues being appealed. Can't be too bad if he can follow the same MO 20 years apart. He has an impairment alright, evil to the bone.

Reagan gutted mental health treatment, which swept them into jails, prisons & homeless on the streets. Ironic" Reagan in 1981 was shot by a man suffering from mental illness. !!! Actually, it was the Donaldson decision by SCOTUS on the mentally ill that did so. The case was brought by the lead counsel for the ACLU. This resulted in much of the chaos you describe above, because formerly institutionalized persons who were unable to care for themselves could not be confined confined against their wills. "A State cannot constitutionally confine a non-dangerous individual who is capable of surviving safely in freedom by themselves or with the help of willing and responsible family members or friends." supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/422/563/case.html I can't stand the ACLU.. to the point of hating them. Not easy for me to hate.

whats the reason for that? Because liberals are more concerned with the civil liberties of the crazies than for public safety. Can't argue with that !!

Reagan gutted mental health treatment, which swept them into jails, prisons & homeless on the streets. No, he didn't. He merely signed into law the Lanterman Act, which was authored and passed by the Democrats in the state legislature. The Democrats have controlled state government ever since, for more than 40 years, and haven't lifted a finger to change the law. There's a reason for that. And..whats the reason for that?

Why? We don't feel that way about murderers. Sure we do. When the murderer abuses the responsibility that comes with being free, we no longer trust him with that responsibility. Sure we do"" we let them out all the time back onto our streets. Is that not trust?

Pink is in. A Georgia prison changed inmate clothing from orange to pink, inmates hate pink. Police say, it does work as a deterrent from them coming back.

That's not what we do in California. The labor unions have seen to that. That's the idea even if, like sending the murderer gently off to sleep, it doesn't always work the way it's supposed to. Nothing always works the way it is suppose to. Some murderers get off & walk.

He might, if he saw someone he knew hanging by his neck, proximate to where his acquaintance committed murder. When my uncle died of lung cancer back in the 70s, all the people in my family quit smoking. Everybody on his street quit too. In fact the whole town quit. Such is the power of deterrence. Even when hanging was public, it still had no power of deterrence, murder continued on & more hangings. Murderers are murderers & thugs are thugs.

Okay - You accept the evidence wherever it may lead to, you say, including flogging. Will you also favor public executions (should they prove to be effective)? Effective at rehabilitating the criminal? I don't see how that is possible. The evidence at present is that the death penalty does not act as a deterrent, and hence does not save lives. Why would it? To a 20 year old, the threat of the death penalty for murder is like the threat of getting cancer from smoking. Far from certain, and at least a couple of decades away in any case. If the evidence went the other way, however, and I was assured that the death penalty saved innocent lives, on balance, I would reluctantly favor it. The DP has proven to save lives. inmates inside still murder. Those paroled murder again. Those who escape murder again. Just when is " enough is enough" ? The DP is not a deterrent. Breaking into homes or a business knowing they most likely will be facing someone who is armed" does not stop them either. A percentage of them are DOA when in process of a crime, now that's deterrence .

Nil's does not talk about the dark underbelly(never) of Sweden, so why the interest in officer fatalities in the US? He seldom if ever answers anyones questions to him . Does Nil's need you as his spokesman. I may not agree with all Nils says or does, yet I find him to be a man who has my respect. personally I lost my respect for him, & as far as you by pass.

Nils, you want us to start at the top, do away with the DP.
We have already starting working on issues in our court system.
We let out the non violent. joe blow who just had a small amount of marijuana on him, etc.
Should we totally do away with the DP, no.
As far as guns millions & milliions legally own guns, criminals would end up being the only ones armed illegally. That would be so foolish to unarm the citizens in the US. When you know how many of us have guns legally, one would think it would turn into the wild west( which it has not) The only one in the news I find an issue with on the police side is the man who told them he could not breath. That man was very overweight & with the pressure on his body I am sure he could not breath. All that over selling cigs illegaly & loss tax revenue is insane.

mm Speaking of guns, I took a test of what gun would fit your personality best? Test result was, 1911.45 ACP. Use something smaller. The 1911 is quite a handful for a novice (assuming you are.) It's nice to have the knockdown power of the .45 ACP when the chips are down, but accuracy counts more. Generally too large for a lady's hand, too. Think 9MM. I did not know what it was, never heard of a 1911 , I had to look it up. The colt 1911 is rare I saw one online sold for just under 1,300 bucks ! 9mm sounds right for me, right now besides some rifles , all I have now is a 38 snub nose revolver. Fit's my hand good put the kick with a snb nose pulls my wrist back taking me off target.
