Discovered by using familial DNA, the first in USA, which led police to a kid's party where Franklin left his DNA on a pizza and plate. That's from a documentary in the "Taste Of Evil" series. They mention the 1980's and the 2000's, but what happened in the 1990's?

Been a long time since I made an entry on this site. Just thought I would add to the discussion, by mentioning the Pierrepoint family. I think that they are the only family to make some form of "career" out of hanging people. The father (Henry?) kept a weights and measure book on his hangings which he passed onto Britain's most famous hangman Albert. I think it was called the 'long drop method'. Henry was fired because he liked the bottle too much! There was a feature film made about it, called Pierrepoint. Probably available on YOUTUBE.

He was 78 which is probably higher than the average age of male life. He had his death penalty overturned at one stage, then resentenced to death.

From an Australian website: www.news.com.au"Billy Ray Irick, the man who raped and killed a seven-year-old girl more than 30 years ago, is set to be executed on Thursday at approximately 7pm in Nashville, Tennessee (12 noon on Friday AEST). The Tennessee Department Corrections has revealed Irick will eat a burger and onion rings as his last meal as part of the execution process. This combo includes a super deluxe burger, onion rings, and a Pepsi.” Almost 30 years on death row, and many other that have used their appeals. If this goes ahead without a problem, then many others on death row in Tennessee could shortly follow. Fortunately Paula's mother, Kathy, is still alive and will get to see the execution she has waited for.

Three were executed (Cantu, O'Brien and Medellin), two were given LWOP (Perez and Villareal), and the youngest Venancio Medellin was given 40 years. Venancio has applied for parole several times but been rejected. His next application is in 2020.

A Texas death row inmate was executed Wednesday — his fourth execution date in a year. Though advocates and his attorneys insisted on Juan Castillo's innocence, he lost all his fights in court and was put to death for a 2003 San Antonio murder.

Davila was convicted Feb. 19 of the April 6, 2008, shooting deaths of Queshawn Stevenson, 5, and her grandmother, Annette Stevenson, 48.
During closing arguments, prosecutors Tiffany Burks and Bob Gill cited a string of violent crimes that Davila committed last year to convince jurors that he poses a continuing threat to society.

He will not be buying anymore suitcases!
"A San Antonio man who became known as the "suitcase killer" has been executed in Texas for the 2005 slaying of a 29-year-old Lubbock woman whose battered, naked body was stuffed into a new piece of luggage and tossed in the trash.
Rosendo Rodriguez III had also confessed to killing a 16-year-old Lubbock girl and similarly disposing her body."

Gary was convicted of raping and killing three elderly women in 1977. Prosecutors said he was also responsible for six other attacks, four of them fatal. All of the victims were raped and choked, most with stockings. He was sometimes called "the stocking killer."
The execution of Carlton Gary was carried out at 10:33 p.m. Thursday.

Michael Eggers showed no mercy towards his victim, his former employer, Bennie Francis Murray, who donated much of her personal time to helping him find a new job. On the night of her murder, Mrs. Murray gave Eggers a lift to pick up his car. Instead of showing her gratitude, Eggers rewarded her kindness by brutally beating and strangling her. He even returned to the scene of the crime to make sure she was dead.
Michael Wayne Eggers has been executed. His time of death was 7:29 p.m.

We are in different countries, and with a different view to gun control.
As a view to guns, I refer to all. That means a handgun or an automatic rifle.
Males doing the shooting? What about the Boomtown Rats song "I Don't Like Mondays" where Brenda Spencer took shots at an elementary school. She killed two an wounded eight others.
We are not totally free of guns in Australia. Farmers can have semi-automatic weapons for pests like wild pigs etc. and individuals can have single shot rifles for rabbit hunting. I think!

Here is a bit of an article from an American newspaper. Sums up my beliefs:
"Leaving aside the issues of training, equipment and skill, we should also consider that teachers themselves are not immune to mental illness, nor spared the stresses that can cause any person to do something terrible with a gun. We see it happen with mass shooters in offices. We should not take the risk of it happening in a classroom with children."

Increase guns? Are you saying teachers would shoot a student when angry? Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying.

Instead of decreasing guns available, it only makes it worse.
I was a teacher in Australian secondary schools (ages 12-18) for about 40 years. In that time there is no way I would let many of those teachers have a gun. As peaceful as I am, there are times when I wanted to hit a kid, but did not. There were other teachers that used violence to exercise control over students. I'd hate to give them a gun.

The parole board voted unanimously for clemency - to change Thomas Whitaker's sentence to life in prison. So clemency has been agreed on. it is now up to the Governor to make the final decision. If granted by the Governor, it would not be real life in prison. He would be able to be paroled in 30 or less years. Why wouldn't it be LWOP? Kent Whittaker seems to running the push for clemency, but they do not mention the other side of the family. "They also ignored the Bartlett family, Patricia's side of the family, who wanted him executed, who feel threatened by him and scared of him."

The third execution this year. All in Texas. A former Dallas accountant condemned for fatally shooting his two young daughters while their mother listened helplessly on the phone has been put to death in Texas.
John David Battaglia received lethal injection Thursday night for the May 2001 killings of his 9-year-old daughter, Faith, and her 6-year-old sister, Liberty. Battaglia and his wife had separated and the girls were killed at his Dallas apartment during a scheduled visit.

64-year-old Dallas man on death row for the 1999 slaying of his ex-girlfriend while he was out on parole for killing his estranged wife has been executed in Texas.
William Rayford became the nation's second inmate put to death this year, both in Texas.
Rayford received lethal injection Tuesday night for beating, stabbing and strangling 44-year-old Carol Lynn Thomas Hall. Her body was found inside a drainage pipe behind her South Dallas home. Hall's 11-year-old son also was stabbed in the attack but survived. He testified against Rayford.
I don't understand how he was out on parole after 8 years for killing his first wife.

Police evidence lockers must have large amounts of morphine, heroin and fentanyl. A hotshot of one of these would be painless and cause death in under 60 seconds.
