It was satisfying to see him so frightened towards the end. I heard the mother of his child changed her name. I don't know if she ever came to her senses. What a horrible legacy to give a kid. Women are nutz.

I have heard it even suggested he once asked an attorney friend where he would be more likely to be executed and duly went to Florida.

There are video tapes of Bundy a couple hours before his execution. He was noticeably scared and panicky.

I think that was anti propaganda started by John the first Felix. Bundy did everything he could to avoid the chair. It was satisfying to see him so frightened towards the end. Before Furman (he was killing before the post Furman executions) I think states like Florida and Virginia were more likely to execute than Texas. Of course, it could just be that he wanted to get as far away as he could from the northwest without having to cross a national boundary.

Don't know how true it is, but allegedly Ted had to be carried to the chair when it called. Guess things are a little different when you're facing your death, eh?

From 1960-1964 there were 29 executions in Texas, and 14 in Florida, even though the population of Texas was nowhere near double that of Florida's. Also, the murder rate in Florida was higher than the MR in Texas each year from 1960-64. That's the way it stood when Bundy fled to Florida in 1978. Nobody could have known what was to come because there were no executions from 1964-1982. From 1982 to 1999, there were 198 executions in Texas, and 43 in Florida. Of course, Florida did execute Bundy, and that's the main thing. I still don't believe he chose Florida because he thought he was more likely to be executed there, in spite of what Felix heard.

Or like Doc said, it's more likely anti propoganda. The propoganda that goes "Some murderers have a death wish so we shouldn't let them have their way." During the final weeks of his life, Bundy no doubt wished he had chosen Canada.

in the seventies, we swam at lake sammamish in issaquah, wa. just about daily. ted bundy was highly active at the time. i remember that us boys would always escort the girls everywhere for safety. he had picked up, i believe, several victims from the state park there. ann rule wrote a book, "the stranger beside me." they actually worked together, side by side, in a telephone crisis center. if i recall correctly, it's been years since i read her book, he did travel to florida because of the execution possibility. he also was squealing like a pig on the last day. he tried to delay the execution by giving out more victims and clues. i also recall he was carried to the chair. and after the execution his eyes were wide open, something very unusual from electrocution.

...he tried to delay the execution by giving out more victims and clues. ...Which was allegedly the reason for a gigantic tirade by the governor of Florida at the time, Bob Martinez.

Apart from whether Bunday was one or not, you well know there is such a thing as the "volunteer". How does one explain them?

But was Bundy one of the few? I don't believe he was, but maybe you can convince me, Felix.

what was the tirade about, bob? to delay? Martinez was reportedly so outraged by Bundy's offer to trade additional information about the locations of other victims' remains for time he wanted to have him electrocuted forthwith. Can't say I blame him.

I have read most of the books on Bundy and I really doubt that was his motive. I think he was arrogant enough to think he would not get caught again

it was 20 years ago that Ted Bundy went to hell on a bolt of lighting. Focus on the Family has posted some of the last interviews with Bundy - www.citizenlink.org/content/A000009138.cfmHe/James Dobson talked about how Bundy's crime spree started with a fascination in porn that went into harder and harder stuff, and then into crime.

You can't blame porn. Millions if not Billions of people look at porn everyday and they are not out killing.

That he watched porn? Yes. That alcohol played a part in the first murder - believe that as well.
