hey i have a question, i was reading and i saw how everyone put that it would be wise to state the number of ppl that escaped/ released from jail that killed again. where could i get the statistics of such? im stressin, my speech is due soon and i need help!! lol thanks so much!

The criminal justice system does not keep those statistics, not that I have ever found anyway.

thanks that helped out! do u know of any cases to where someone had lwop and got out and then killed again? or something like that!? im lookin for a story of someone did something awful to get put in jail and then because they were "good" and followed instructions, they were able to get out and then they killed(or whatever) again!?! im sure that prob. isnt to clear but idk. i just need help!! i was reading that kids speech outline and it was pretty good, i just dont want to get the God view in it! not because im not a christian, or i dont believe i just dont want to go that way. and with my speech i cant veiw both sides, its why or why not i believe the dp is fair/good. any ideas on how i should present it? like a good story like i mentioned!? im just not sure how i can persuade a class when i have no facts to back myself up!?! thank you!

Did you read the LWOP page I pasted above? There are several stories about people who were out after getting LWOP and killed again.

ok by now im sure im getting on your nerves! im sorry! yall are a big help! i read all those stories and i will choose one to put in my speech! i think im going to start off telling a story like that and then state percentages!? on which states offer the death penalty. im not understanding on whether or not the dp has ever been done away with? or during what time frame each state started to "re-think" if dp is fair?! i know i am pro dp and i could sit all day and talk about why i believe it is good but i have no clue how to do a speech without good details or facts( as to why it really is better) im so lost and im confusing myself! i guess im just gonna say how i feel and see if someone can help me put it into order for my speech! i think the dp is fair because it serves justice. i believe if someone can do such a horrible thing to get dp that they shouldnt be our prob anymore. its harsh to say it that way but its how i feel. i grew up with nothing but law enforcement in my fam i have seen how bad people can be and how the wrong actions can affect the victims loved ones. i also see the other side (anti dp) where ppl that are innocent being sentenced. i feel for the families and honestly dont know what or how i would act if i were in that position. but ppl should be punished. no matter what. if someone close to me committed a crime, u better believe i would be sad and wouldnt want to see them get in trouble, but we make our own decisions and i believe you should pay for what u do! i wouldnt contest or try and find a way to prove the guilty person to be innocent!! its wrong! society is turning everything around!! ppl cheat on their spouse, thats ok. ppl steal, well they say it could have been worse. juveniles who are not properly punished are seen again in the adult court system!?? why? because things arent being done properly!! they get sent off to YDC! gah the court system and the way society is today really gets me going! and i have not really realized ti until today! anyways im sorry if i have offended anyone, its not what i was trying to do! i just need help! this speech is 40 % of my grade and its due Wednesday! my baby has been sick an di have not had time to really get much done! any help on how to present this and what/how i should talk about things would help so much!! thank you!!!!!

ok what i wrote a second ago has made me think. i read up on some things www.wesleylowe.com/cp.html a lot of what this man or person is saying is how i feel. it makes me ask the question,... why do ppl that do not believe in the dp believe in fighting a war or going to another country? yes the "PEOPLE" that did such for us to start a war w them murdered many ppl and loved ones. but without dp what will the criminal do once we catch him? hmm? sit in jail and watch cable tv and get smoke brakes like the rest of them? yeah! and yes i know if we were to catch the ppl( or person) we are after it would b different just because what they did to this country. but look around society and at all the families that are being hurt and punished because ppl and how now up for parole every 2 yrs! (in some cases i guess) i have a family member that is in jail and honestly doesnt ever stay out very long but thats just it,... he gets out! it never shows a point to him!! he is treated to "good" he still gets to smoke he can see his family (maybe not as much as he would like but,..) and he watches tv, gets average food! he hasnt got it across his mind that there are rules for a reason!! idk i like being able to talk and express my issues its nice to have ppl to talk to and now im interested in all this stuff not just for my speech! so thanks!!! but i think i have expressed how i feel and i just need to know how yall think i should express all this to the class! thank yall sooo much!! ;D

You could also throw in Kenneth McDuff, Texas. He was actually sentenced to death, Furman overturned the sentence, and he got out on parole and murdered again, multiple victims.

Also, LWOP doesn't exist. Laws change, and a criminal sentenced to LWOP always stands a chance of walking free if the courts or legislature decide to set aside LWOP.

On the other hand, dead is dead.
