We received the following letter from an MVS. Even those of you who do not support the death penalty should be willing to write a letter on behalf of this family.
**************************
Many of you know me from the fourteen and a half years I have worked for Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office. I am currently assigned to The Greater Houston Regional Computer Forensic Lab.
What most of you do not know is that on the morning of May 31, 1991 my sister Barbara Ann Dawson, who was 26 years old at the time, was one of two people viciously murdered by Jack Eugene Vian Jr. just outside of her home in Houston, Texas. Barbara had declined to date Jack Eugene Vian Jr. so Jack stalked and murdered my sister and the young man she was dating in the most personal and violent way possible. Barbara was stabbed 13 times and had her throat cut twice across almost removing her head. John was also stabbed excessively and his throat was then cut. Both victims begged for their life and both were ignored.
Jack Eugene Vian Jr. was sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON for CAPITAL MURDER and sent to the Texas Department of Corrections. In 1991 Life in prison meant that you could begin asking for parole after just fifteen years. Less than a year later that was changed to 40 years, but that was not retroactive.
Now that the first fifteen years has passed Jack Eugene Vian Jr. is eligible to ask to be paroled. Even though a panel will review the details of the crime it is up to the victims family, friends and coworkers to voice their opposition to parole.
My family and I are asking for your support by printing the attachment, filling out the three lines at the bottom and mailing it to Raven Kazen at the address below her name. You can e-mail it unsigned to the e-mail address below Raven's address as long as you remember to fill in the printed name and contact number. Feel free to give a copy to anyone you feel can be of help since I was told by the TDCJ Victim Services that the volume of personally signed letters and e-mails will influence the Parole Boards decision.
If you decide you can help please do not reply, but send me an e-mail to robertfdawson@gmail.com describing what you did so I can track what TDCJ is supposed to have in Jack Eugene Vian Jr. file. Due to Jack Eugene Vian Jr's privacy rights they cannot tell me what, if anything, is in his file unless I am the author so your response is important there as well.
Your support is greatly appreciated and would mean very much to me and my family.

Crime : CAPITAL MURDER
I have friends or associates who know a member of the Dawson family. Through them I discovered that Barbara Ann Dawson, at age 26, was one of two innocent people viciously murdered by Jack Eugene Vian Jr. on the morning of May 31, 1991 in Houston, Texas. Through them I discovered that Jack Eugene Vian Jr. received LIFE IN PRISON for CAPITAL MURDER and is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Corrections.
I am writing you on behalf of the Dawson family to express my personal belief that convicted CAPITAL MURDERER Jack Eugene Vian Jr. should not be placed on parole. I also request that his parole reviews be changed to THE MAXIMUM OFFSET OF THREE YEARS to minimize the number of times the Dawson family members must endure parole hearings in the future.
Thank you,
