Background
On 21 February 1991 William Redman, an officer with the Travis County Sheriff's Department, was stabbed once and fatally beaten and stomped in the parking lot of the Willow Brook Apartments, in Austin, Texas. Redman had just arrived home and was confronted by Jose Flores and several others in the parking lot, according to testimony.
Accoding to newspaper accounts, Flores confessed to the crime after he and Ernez Perez were arrested several hours later near New Braunfels. Austin homicide Sgt. Bruce Boardman, who took the confession, said Flores was "more or less unfeeling, unemotional, somewhat cocky" when he confessed.
In the confession, Flores said he tried to talk to Redman in the parking lot, but said the officer "brushed me off." Flores said he hit Redman several times, and after the officer fell to the pavement, Flores began kicking him.
"I was already mad because he tried to walk away from me," Flores said. "I know what I did was wrong, but I did not think he would die."
Travis County Sheriff's Deputy Gary Cutler said Flores appeared proud of the murder, and "showed absolutely no remorse."
Witnesses to the attack said Flores jumped up and down on Redman's face. The shoes Flores was wearing had a pattern on their soles that matched patterns found on Redman's head and throat.
On 10 January 1992 a jury convicted Flores of Murder with a deadly weapon and sentenced him to life in prison. Now only 15 years later he is up for parole. Justice demands that Flores be made to spend his entire life in prison.

Re: Jose Flores TDCJ ID# 00606331
Dear Board Members,
Please DO NOT grant Parole to Jose Flores. As a concerned citizen, I am writing to protest the projected parole. On 21 Febuary 1991 William Redman was confronted in the parking lot of his Apartment Complex by Jose Flores, Ernest Perez and others. When Redman ignored Flores he became enraged and hit Redman knocking him down. Flores then continued his attack by kicking and stomping Redman about the face and throat.
After killing William Redman Flores and others then left only to be caught later after robbing a San Marcos area convenience store.
Flores has shown no remorse for the murder of William Redman in fact, according to newspaper accounts, at his trial one officer testified that Flores seemed proud of the murder.
Due to the heinous nature of this crime Justice demands that Flores be made to spend the rest of his life in prison. In the interests of justice, public safety, and to lessen the emotional trauma for the victim's family, please consider giving Flores a five year set off before any future parole reviews.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
