Me thinks they cry "false confession" after they have been in prison awhile and they become "prison smart." Let's play the system becomes their motto.

Maybe they were "helped"? Seems some cop in Chicago named Jon Burge did that quite a bit...

I wonder how many people on this board has not done "something" that was illegal at one time in their life and just NEVER got caught. Should we all be punished for something we "didn't" do because we had done something in the past so it's ok?

Interesting.... so you have never done anything that was against the law? Drinking under age, driving while drunk, drugs (pot)...

Of course we have, or I know I have, but what does this have to do with confessing to something we haven't done? Especially murder?

Drinking under age, driving while drunk, drugs (pot)... of course. i've done all three, and not just pot. i grew up and didn't do them any more. however, with the exception of taking a twenty out of my mom's purse when i was 16, i have never stolen anything, nor ever killed anyone who didn't deserve it. that's the difference

I think it takes a seriously screwed up individual to confess to serial murder. Man, I wish I could understand that one. Could they be confessing to their fantasies? If so, what is being done about it? Rather big alarm bells going off!!!

This person was talking about some one that may have admitted to something they didn't do, but probably has done so he should be punished anway for past discrepancies. My point was that we are not all "angels" and if what this person says is correct, then we all should be punished for past offenses.

My guess is for fame or attention or someone that does not have all of their faculties together. But this can also be for teens or people that are not questioned by police officers that are skilled at questioning folks. And mistakes do happen...

Police officers "skilled" at questioning folks are also skilled at tricking them into confessions if they are so inclined. Hard to imagine unless one has been there, I suspect. It has happened in the past. Too often to be accidental.
