"Homeowner with gun holds 2 burglars at bay"
"MIDVALE — Police say two men who attempted to burglarize a Midvale home Friday were met by the homeowner — and his shotgun. According to Midvale police, the men broke into the home, located near 200 East and 6900 South, just before 11:30 p.m. Friday. They were then confronted by the home's owner, who held them at bay with a shotgun until police arrived, said Sgt. Ken Jarvis. No shots were fired. Jarvis said the men began resisting orders while standing on the home's front porch, prompting police to unleash their police dog. One man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, while the other was taken to a local hospital for treatment of dog bites. The men, ages 24 and 29, are being investigated for residential burglary."
This article speaks for its self.

This article speaks for its self. That doesn't surprise me. There are also elderly women who own guns to protect their properties and have held crooks at bay as well.
As long as the gun owner uses common sense and caution, owning one is "fine with me"!!

If i was staring down the barrel of a shotgun i wouldnt move either. I would want an open casket for my family. How old was this weapon wielding man? And good for him, I bet the word will spread about the crazy man with the shotgun that almost killed two people. One minute he's protecting his house and the next he is crazy. How quickly one can become "insane" according to the public. If he wanted to he had every right to shoot them.

;D ;D ;D Hurray for that guy. Up here in lovely British Columbia, you'd end up getting arrested for defending your property because you'd be charged with attempted assault with a deadly weapon while the two scumbags who would break into my house would be scot free. Unfortunately for me, since I'm a Canadian I have to live with those rules, so unfortunately, I can't ward them off even with my Airsoft M-16A2 and my only recourse for home defense is a very defensive Rottweiler.

That Rot is a great defender. An old service buddy of mine trains them for home defense. Since they are such highly intelligent animals, they can be taught to wait for the intruder to enter, and then turn the scum into Alpo. Don't lose that dog! Good posts…<br>

Shotguns, especially pump action ones, are great at gaining compliance. Everyone knows what a pump action sounds like and most people freeze and do what they are told.
Dogs are usually pretty good for that as well.
