So today I learned other countries used the electric chair and Lithuania apparently gassed people pre-Holocaust. The Philippines used electrocution in the early 20th century but I cannot find a whole ton of information about it online such as who’s idea it was to bring it there or more than a scant few photos of the execution facility. There’s a well documented rape case where the 3 convicts were executed and it was reported to have been broadcast in Philippines TV but no recordings exist? The wiki page on electrocution also says Ethiopia used the chair. All I can find online is a likely urban legend that the emperor wanted an electric chair but once it arrived from the US didn’t realize it needed electricity which Ethiopia didn’t have at the time and instead used it as a throne. There’s a photo floating around online of three men in African solider garb strapping a man to the chair however there’s zero information about the context about it or if it’s genuine or staged. Does anyone know anymore about Ethiopia and it’s use of the chair? Also the Wikipedia entry for gas chambers states Lithuania used it for criminal executions in the 1930s before the Holocaust. The only other details I can find is it was located in Kaunas Prison/Fortess. No details on what it looked like, if it was the US-style with the airtight seal, or who died in it. The wikis below and cited sources within are about all I can find mentioning anything… en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_chairen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_chamber

The Electric Chair is just the modern day equivalent of Burning-at-the-Stake. Needlessly cruel and barbaric, and a violation of the Eighth Amendment. A bullet to the back of the head is instantaneous and painless, so it would be a better choice.
