Hi everyone. I received a disturbing email yesterday asking me to sign a petition for Panetti's appeal. This email got me to research this sick character and soon find out that this appeal is a complete joke. This man needs to be executed on Feb 5th, 2004 as scheduled!!
As for the ex wife, this woman watched Panetti kill her parents and she has decided to "change her mind" and that said that Scott was treated unfairly by police who should have known that he was sick. How were they supposed to know he was "sick"? And why should people with mental deficiencies have more rights then law abiding citizens? The thought of Panetti not frying next month sends chills to me. If that's how the system is, what's to say he'll actually be imprisoned for life? What's to say he won't kill again? What's to say he won't escape? What's to say that he won't be released and be allowed to run the streets of Texas (or anywhere) again. At the present time he is incarcerated in Huntsville, Texas- close to where my brother, sister-in-law, godchild, and brand new niece live? Why should Panetti be excused because he has psychological problems? These excuses give more people more leniency to commit violent crimes.
The simple and honest truth is that he is guilty. He knows this, the public knows this, and the system knows this. If we all know this, what is the problem? Is the problem that he poorly represented himself? No. The REAL problem is he is a murderer.
How can a murder be taken seriously if the penalty isn’t equally as serious? A crime, after all, is only as severe as the punishment that follows.
I wrote this letter for those of us who put our faith in the system and live in America to have the freedom to leave our houses in safety. This safety begins with punishing those who don’t have respect for freedom.
Thanks for reading and hopefully I'll hear some feedback.

biggest problem is your lack of insight. If he is mentally ill, he may well not have the capacity to have been responsible for what he did. Do you want a system which is just and fair? Or is that more than the meanspirited folk in Texas can live with? As for frying people? The terms you use to talk about other human beings are very interesting. Shell, -you fry food? You can tell the difference between people and food?

I can, Felix. Food actually tastes good and is enjoyable, as well as life sustaining. Your murderer buddies are neither, except maybe to sickos like you who get off on skulking around death row. I too feel the word "fry" is unsuitable, only in that it is disparaging to fried food. better word choice might be "take out the trash".

America should not be a society that would allow a man with 11 years of mental commitments and diagnoses to represent himself in court and then be put to death. What a joke! I think it's appalling. What sort of humane society executes the mentally ill? This is not saying Scott Panetti should get out. No, of course not. But he should not be executed.

You would think it is appalling, but most people here are more concerned about the people that he murdered than his alleged mental problems. Additionally, take those lies you read in the Amnesty International press releases with a grain of salt...do they ever approve of an execution, or is their always some reason the MOPE doesn't deserve it in his particular case....ever think theyu might be lying. Of course not, not the holier-than-thou Amnesty!

Mental deficiency or not...killing is wrong! Most people that kill have some form of mental illness...whether it be rage or have some kind of birth defect that hazes their judgement and so on, but if justification is made for these folks that because they possess these deficiencies that they are not responsible for murder...well to me that is ludicrous.
I have no doubts that this guy has a problem...however, prior to flipping out and going on a killing spree...he was sane enough to keep a family and job. To then wig out when she leaves him and massacre the wife's parents. Were they not aware that he was metally deficient? who knows! Did the family of this murderer not pass on this information to these poor folks prior to him killing them? Who knows! Should they have assumed upon seeing his vehicle at their house that he had flipped out and they shouldn't enter their own home, because they would die that day? Who knows!
I am pro death all the way...especially in a case like this...this man should die on February 5th and answer for his actions against these folks. I don't buy into the crazy thing for this guy...an overboard act to get out of the crime!
Most of the folks Amnesty International would probably change their minds on their stance the instance something happens like this to someone they love and charish.

Seems the nice man we should save only killed 2 poor ol Hispanics. To think they want to kill a white Texan for that, amazing!!! Seems his wife took their daughter to her parents to escape his abuse. He decides no wife is gonna walk out on him; loads his trusty 30-06 hunting rifle and heads to the in-laws. Mom and dad try to protect their daughter and grand-daughter from the 6 ft something youngman. Guess he showed them who's boss, and blows them into hamburger with his elephant gun in front of the poor wife and child. Then he kidnaps them and holds them hostage; imagine the fear and terror they felt!! When the cops show up(with their own guns) he decides to give up and ask for mercy. Think about what that mother and child will have to live with for the rest of their lives!! Where's that petition, I'm out of toilet paper !!

Simply put, I don't understand the bleeding heart sentimentality over the pending execution of Scott Panetti: Is a vicious, cold blooded killer who needs to accept the consequences of his behaviour under the law of the State of Texas. ..... Next case.

we have two sides to the death penalty. For: people should pay for what they've done ( a life for a life) It's justice for the victims family. whats to say he wont do it again?
against: never get a chance to show remorse just as bad as the criminals. can never be a better person (how can you rehibilitate a dead person?)
you say that criminals decide the life or death of the victim but surely your doin the same wich makes yu just as bad. (nowhere near as bad as murder but still in the fact that you are choosing death of a human being.)
