Those of you who are familiar with the Wichita Massacre (December 14 and 15, 2000) may be interested to know that Margaret Dawe (margaret.dawe@wichita.edu) is writing a "true crime" book about the murders and the other multiple murder that was done in Wichita the same winter. In an interview she said that she had been influenced as a child by Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.
Dr. Dawe is a head of the English Department at Wichita State University. One of the victims, Heather Muller, attended WSU part time while she was prepring to become a nun. Dr. Dawe attended the murderers' trial. She also videotaped it from the two local TV stations that televised the trial. She pointed out that, in her book, she would "also talk about what the mainstream media can't discuss and that's class in our culture."
Professor Dawe has written two other books. The one that was published is called Nissequott. The working title of her new book is "The Geography of Hope" and she held a reading from it at a local library.
