I wanted to know if there are any organizations that are actually working to enact the death penalty in states that do not currently have the DP? Could there be a link on this board to steer people to concrete steps that can be taken to make this happen?
My best friend's brother was shot to death and he feels very passionately every time he sees a local news story here in detroit about someone being killed by criminals. I'm neither for or against at this point but it seems the anti DP folks are actively engaged at preventing or repealing the DP.
How can pro DP folks get involved politicaly, in the grass roots to change minds?
Please respond...

Well I'm an anti and live in the UK so dont know much about the political/grass roots enquiry part of your question. egarding changing minds, I would suggest site like this to just plunge into the dabate. This site is particularly good out of those available as they do encourage respectful debate so you can get to understand the other persons perspective. Other sites are more "militant" and only allow people of like mind, so I'm not sure they achieve anything other that stifle debate. You could start by trying to change my mind? My starting point is that i believe we are only entitled to defend and protect ourselves from those who would wantonly kill, and that this end can be achieved by incerceration in prison. I believe that killing the murderer makes a statement about our own attitude to human life in general. I believe all life is sacred in that sense and how we respond to the murderers impacts on the importance/esteem we hold all life in. I understand the natural desire for revenge for those who loose loved ones, but believe that what sets us apart from animals is the ability to strive to let or reasoning govern the way we act, rather than our feelings and instincts. Good luck with your search
Regards,
Felix
