Sweet Jesus ! What a slap in the face to the sorrowing survivors of his two hapless victims, and what an affront to basic justice and decency ! For seventeen years this pig faced nonentity has squatted in his death row cage whilst his oily shysters played their games in the courts.
His latest gambit centers, apparently, on a claim of ineffective counsel - the latest Brass Ring the U.S. Supreme Court has deigned to hold out to merciless killers and their doubletalking mouthpieces. And, should this prove unworkable, expect this 300 pound tub of excrement to work the ever-popular "retarded" scam.
Oh god, my heart aches for the families of the two girls he slaughtered. These poor folks believed that, at long last, there would be closure. Now, thanks to the meddling of yet another federal judge, the legal system has spat in their faces with an arrogant sneer.
Though I have no means of knowing with certainty, I would wager the federal judge in question is either a Clinton or Carter appointee to the bench.
According to the Akron Beacon, attornies for the State of Ohio are challenging the stay and seeking to have it dissolved. It is unlikely they'll succeed, but I hope against hope they do.
I need hardly to add that squishy soft liberals are cooing with approval. My stomach turns and my heart rages at their callous indifference to the sufferings of the victims and the horrendous grief endured by their loved ones.
Never but never give ear to the protestations of anti-death penalty campaigners that they feel "compassion" for the victims, for they do not. In their arrogance, insolence and ignorance they care only for the welfare of those who slay, those who destroy lives and futures and dreams.
God in Heaven ! Let justice be done ! Richard Cooey puts one in mind of nothing so much as a hog or a hippo and his crimes belie description for their brutality, ugliness and cowardice.
Richard Cooey deserves no more "mercy" that we would show a rabid dog snarling in the street. He needs to be destroyed. From their GRAVES his two pathetic victims cry our for justice, as do the tears of their mothers and fathers, their siblings and friends.
Liberals, O ! So compassionate, so loving, so big hearted and filled with "concern" behold their sufferings and laugh, dismiss them with a wave of the hand while contriving new lies, new legal deceits and dirty tricks to stab them in the back and spit on the graves of the murdered ones.
One should be left sick with rage.

Both victims were brutally treated for several hours. The murderer admits to doing it and recently stated that he has no moral standing to avoid execution. It's called basic rights, guaranteed by the constitution. If there is any doubt whatsoever that he had a fair trial, even if it's only a little doubt, we are obligated to check into it before killing him. Fear not, I'm sure if he's found guilty again he will eventually be executed.

What is currently happening is just the raising of issues with no merit to prolong the man's life. The people who had their basic rights brutally removed were the two victims he admitted he raped and sodomized before he and his partner rapist and murderer beat to death and strangled. You see they were two young women who wanted to live, so it took some extra effort to kill them after they had been raped and sodomized. We don't know if he mutilated them before or after they were murdered.

Fear not, I'm sure if he's found guilty again he will eventually be executed. The question is not guilt or innocence. Cooey's guilt has been established beyond reasonable doubt. We are simply into a new lawyer questioning the competence of a previous lawyer. Must be a real thrill to be in a profession where your inability to get a murderer off is defined as incompetence. Think about it, anyone been convicted for capital murder who complimented their attorney for a good try? There is absolutely nothing lost by allowing this new judge a little time to satisfy himself that all procedures have been properly followed. I am very sorry for the victim's mother but she has already learned that any question of procedure works to the favor of the criminal. On the other hand, Cooey also knows his time has run out. If he enjoys our legal version of Russian Roulette, let him. Sooner or later, the bullet's in the chamber.

envisaged this guy when writing the Bill of Rights.
This ruling by Judges so caught up with "the system" that they can no longer tell "justice" from "process", does not guarantee real justice. It only subverts it.
Does the ruling consider the victims or those left behind? Does it even show any real kindess to Cooey to yank him away from deaths door only to execute him a few months down the road?
Not really, it just represents a "justice industry" that is out of control.

The Bill of Rights protects citizens against the abuse of state power. It is designed to protect the innocent from unjust prosecution.
It is ridiculous to suggest that the Founding Fathers ever envisaged that murderers, who are guilty beyond a shadow of doubt, should be able to use a corrupted system to delay the imposition of a death sentence for decades. That isn't so much about "justice" its about serving the collective interests of the legal system and the personal interests of lawyers.

Obviously the professionals who do this for a living think there is a good reason to look into this again and decide if he DOES deserve one. If you know better than they do, maybe you should submit this irrefutable evidence to the authorities.

Well, heres the deal! my name is Robert McCreery! I am the younger brother of one of this mans victims! For 17 years we have been waiting for the justice promised us by our court systems. It's not here yet! At this point in time there is not much i can offer my opinion on because we still have to pursue this and i don't want to take the chance of offending anyone in THE SYSTEM too much! But i can give some facts and let you make up your own minds! As of this point the arguments to overturn the stay are about to go back to the same judge that issued it in the first place. this is the same judge who back in june fired cooey's attornies at the federal level for not doing a good enough job. Now i have met these attornies and let me tell you this. One of them is a Law proffesor at the university of akron.you tell me how she could NOT know this would happen if she didn't do so well! NOw, the judge that fired his attornies is also the same one who decided to appoint a new attorny3 days before the scheduled execution. then on the night before the execution decided that the new attorny needed more time to study the case! And yes...he is indeed a Clinton appointee! There are several more issues in question here! but i won't go into them now. but for all who say maybe he DOES deserve another shot at apeal i want you to consider this.... he has had more apeals than either of his victims were given! they never got the chance to ask for a new lawyer or argue infront of a new court! they never got to file a single motion or even fight for their lives the way this animal is getting to!!!!!! thanks for all who support me and my family...it's nice to know you are out there! you say beyond the shadow of a doubt...the problem is that he made a full confession at the time of the original trials! i was there...i saw the look of concete and smuggness on his face!!! And i saw the lack of remorse and lack of humanity in his eyes! the question they are facing now is not his guilt....but his attornys practices and fee's! they made a wrinkle in the system for him to hide in for a few more months! thats all!!

My name is Nicolle McCreery. Dawn would have been my sister in law. To the visitor that suggests melodrama, I can only say this CANNOT be underplayed. Dawn and Wendy were tortured, raped, cut, knocked in the head with a billy club, robbed and strangled in a horrifying 3 and half hours that none of us would even dare to imagine. Richard Cooey has not only taken their lives, but destroyed the hearts of all the people who loved her. For 17 years, we have waited for the system to bring my family justice, and instead it gave this animal one more chance to fight. Who was fighting for Wendy and Dawn? If any of you have children, you can imagine the heartache their mothers live with every day. They do not have the luxury of death to escape this torture. So, if you find this to be a bit melodramatic for you, then stay out of the chat room. These statements are nothing compared to Cooey's tapes and interviews. We put dangerous animals to death because we know they are dangerous and can never be trusted. Richard Cooey is an animal, nothing more. He is dangerous, and can never be trusted. He needs to be put down.

You really can't trust anti-DP organizations. He doesn't deny it anymore. Not only that, but he agrees that he has no moral standing to avoid the death penalty. By the way, what do you mean by "it"?

*It* being the crime of which he was convicted. I didn't make it plainly obvious in my last post, I'm afraid, that I think he should have had his sentence carried out months ago.
I wasn't aware that he no longer denies it, thank you very much for pointing that out.
I know it's late and words mean nothing but to the family members who have posted, I am very sorry for your loss.

I didn't say beyond a reasonable doubt. I said beyond a shadow of a doubt. Absolute proof is a hard thing to find. There is absolute proof that the two innocent young women were raped and brutalized for several hour and then brutally killed. The conditions of their bodies made that clear. They were not given any opportunity to present any evidence of their innocence to their judges, jury and executioners. Of course, that is always the case for the innocent victims of murderers. As for the guilt of murderers, there is seldom absolute proof for the simple reason that they and their lawyers make every effort to hide the truth. Yet the guilty murderers are given a fair trial and appeals and seldom faced with justice for their actions. However, in this case, we are as close to absolute truth of guilt as we are ever likely to get. So close that no human could ever tell the difference. The evidence at trial was overwhelming and Cooey admits that he should be executed for his criminal actions.

If there was absolute proof, the defense lawyers would not be able to do anything about it - hence the word absolute. If there is even a tiny chance that he is innocent, he should get an appeal or a new trial, depending on the circumstances. That is, unless you are willing to take responsibility on those rare occasions when your not-quite-irrefutable evidence is proven wrong.

There in not the tiniest chance that Cooey is not guilty. There is nothing that will prevent a defense lawyer from attempting to free his client. The defense lawyers often know with absolute certainty that their client is guilty. Often they even know of other crimes that their client has committed. There is no question about Cooey's guilt. The evidence is so solid that guilt or innocence is not the issue of the appeal. The issue is legal mumbo-jumbo about the details of the sentencing process. As recently as a few weeks ago the murderer-rapist has publically admitted that he has no moral leg to stand on with respect to his just execution. Unlike the murderers you wish to benefit, I have taken responsibility since I was 8 years old for myself and others. How would you suggest that I personally take all responsibilty for the actions of all murderers, all policemen, all prosecutors, all judges and all juries?

wendy's family and our family had the opportunity to meet with 2 gentlemen from the attorney generals office this week. the whole issue is not cooy's guilt. that has never been the issue. there is no question of his guilt. it is all improper use of the system by bleeding heart judge polster and marjory koosed, atty. they are now being investigated for their actions in delaying his execution. it is abundantly clear to all involved that they intentionally screwed up to give cooey a little more time. unfortunately, judge polster is appointed, so he has no obligation to the citizens to do the right thing. personally, i think he has more of a chance of having a heaRT attack before he can be executed, the pig.

If there was absolute proof, the defense lawyers would not be able to do anything about it Lawyers can always do something to save a guilty murderer. That is especially true, in this case, where some of the appeals judges are conspiring with the lawyer. His last stay was the result of a criminal conspiracy by the judges. His appeal went to a three-judge panel during the normal course of the Appeals Court's business. The chief judge, who knows that his personal oppositon to the dp is more important then the law, found out that the three-judge was about to reject the appeal. So he took the decision away from them by reguiring an en banc hearing for the appeal. As for the lawyers tactics, the judges pointed out that not only was her appeal baseless, but that she intentionally included many frivalous facets of appeal. They felt that the quality of her appeal wasn't worth the $172,000 she had been paid for her "work" so they dismissed her from the case.

Ohio corrections should go out and buy a King -sized Gurney and strap that sleazeball Judge and attorney down with him. They have no respect for the law, the feelings of the victims, or morality. I bet if they had seen this horrible event occurring, they would either have joined in, or at the least given Coeey their buisness card or campaign leaflet.

If a murderer repents before his execution, he won't go to hell. That is one of the benefits that the DP provides to murderers. Strap em down and send them to hell, they are only playthings for the hug-a-thug anti's.
