Lillo Brancato Jr. was given 10 years for his involvement in the murder of officer Daniel Enchautegui. Evidently, Brancato needed some heroin and suggested that he and his buddy, Steven Armento, get drugs from another "friend's" house. Supposedly, this friend had told Brancato to come by anytime and help himself to anything he wanted in the house. Brancato says he accidently broke the window trying to wake his friend up. I'm not sure what was wrong with the doorbell. His "friend", by the way had been dead for months. Officer Enchautegui lived nearby and tried to stop the robbery. Armento shot and killed Enchautegui. The jury decided, with evidence to the contrary, that Brancato didn't know Armento had a gun, and so just convicted him for burglary. If Brancato did not choose the location for the burglary, Officer Enchautegui would be alive. I believe this is a perfect argument for the law of parties. www.nytimes.com/2009/01/10/nyregion/10brancato.html?hp
