I asked in another thread, if a jury is informed before passing sentence, exactly what "Life in Prison" means. Donnie replied that the jury is not informed and any mention of such could result in a mistrial?
I'd like to know why this information is withheld, what purpose does it serve?

Kay, I don't have the time to find it now, but Joseph and I had this conversation about, oh, 9 months ago. I did legal research then, and it turns out that different states have different rules. Some states DO tell the jury what "life" means, some do not. When I get more time, I'll try to find the thread for you. There was lots of good info during the discussion. Allison

Thank you Allison, and apologies for repeating a question that has already been asked. Obviously, I missed that thread.

Thank you Allison, and apologies for repeating a question that has already been asked. Obviously, I missed that thread. No apologies necessary. It was a while ago. And now I'm trying to search, but I am only getting posts as far back as June. Maybe the search function only works for the last 6 months......?
