Governor Tim Kaine this evening delayed the execution of a man who bludgeoned a co-worker to death with the base of a brass lamp. Christopher Scott Emmett had been scheduled for execution at nine o'clock tonight. Emmett killed John Langley in a Danville motel room in 2001 while attempting to rob him of money so he could buy crack cocaine. www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=6655363&nav=menu368_2

Here's his stupid reason.Governor Tim Kaine delayed the execution of a man who bludgeoned a co-worker to death with the base of a brass lamp. Christopher Scott Emmett had been scheduled for execution at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Emmett killed John Langley in a Danville motel room in 2001 while attempting to rob him of money so he could buy crack cocaine. The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected Emmett's request for a stay of execution, although four justices noted that they would have granted his request. But Kaine stopped the execution, saying he wants to give the Supreme Court until Oct. 17 to consider hearing an appeal. Emmett's execution would have been the 99th carried out in Virginia since the Supreme Court reinstated capital punishment in 1976. www.wtopnews.com/?nid=25&sid=1166574

How many executions has there been in Virginia since Kaine's been Gov? Also, how many those have been delayed, commuted and such?

He took office in January of 2006.
04/27/06 Dexter Lee Vinson
07/20/06 Brandon Hedrick
07/27/06 Michael Lenz
11/09/06 John Schmitt
These four were all executed while he's been in office.
I believe he's grant two stays.
Stacey Lynn Reed
Christopher Emmett

Their information isn't always accurate. I think that some type of information they get is from actual newspaper articles and stuff, some of their stuff I don't believe but I think stuff like the list of executions I can believe. Hopefully at least. lol

Both stays tonight really suck. I'm probably going to take a break from the DP and this board altogether, since the DP is such a joke.

Don't do that man, sometimes these things happen, even though overall we all know the Death Penalty is the thing to go by when it comes to bringing victims families justice, sometimes it just doesn't work out but I guarantee you this, I have a really good feeling that Henderson and Emmett's stays won't last.

The first stay mentioned by stormy, Stacey Lynn Reed, was actually Walton's victim. She was killed about 10 miles from where I live.
