Here's a disturbing one from India. This is one 'get rich quick' scheme that ended up costing money, providing four death sentences and the needless death of an 8 year old boy.
How greedy can people be?
4 sentenced to death for child sacrifice
Ghaziabad (U.P.): A woman and her three sons have been sentenced to death by a court in Bulandshahr for sacrificing a child early this year.
Bulandshahr Additional District and Sessions judge Shankar Lal on Tuesday convicted them of murder. An eight-year-old boy was hacked to death on the advice of a tantrik on February 14.
The court awarded the death penalty and slapped a fine of Rs. 2,200 on each of them. The judge gave them 30 days to file an appeal in the High Court against the verdict.
Acting on the suggestion of the tantrik, Subhadra and her three sons sacrificed the boy Akash to get rich.

A tantrik appears to be the equivalent of a Priest. Tantrik Worship is a form of ritualized Christianity with it's roots in Shava (Indian diety). You can read more here. www.geocities.com/o_m_mathew/om.htm#manBTW, this tantrik is still on the run... some faithful priest huh?

OMG my son just turned 7... I cannot begin to comprehend this. Ray... any further info on exactly what monetary gain there was? That part I'm not understanding as it appeared to read as a ritualistic murder...unless she was expecting wealth from her sacrifice. Sorry folks but she's a real bytch.

What method do they use in India? They execute by hanging, however it is rarely used and sentences are often stayed. The last I heard, they had not had an execution in 10 years.

The last I heard, they had not had an execution in 10 years. I believe the last person executed in India was Dhanonjoy Chatterjee who was hanged in 2004 for the rape and murder of a 14-year old girl.
