Well let's see if ANY freakin state will finally start applying the DP equally to both genders. Ridiculous how women get the pass on this. Murder is murder, no matter the gender. And frankly I think that because you are a woman and most have a built-in instinct, when you commit crimes against children you should be first in line to the gurney.

Baby Brandon...he was a beautiful little guy. I remember when this happened because I was living in Austin and it was awful. She kidnapped him and then buried his body. She said she dropped him on his head, but it showed he was bludgeoned. The parents were so so so devastated.
Travis County is a liberal county and even they couldn't stomach this. I truly hope this one happens.
From one native Austinite to a little angel Austinite... Brandon Baugh.. rest in peace little one.

I guess I never understood the part when she said she was going to sell the baby. Who's going to want to buy a dead infant? "She had also claimed at different points that she had stolen the baby to sell for money." austin.about.com/od/crime/p/hendersoncathy.htm

I bet they will start to sing her praises on PTO...Only they will never mention anything about the baby, that never harmed anyone and was dependent upon everyone for his care.

Or making believe she kidnapped the baby and it was still alive to get money.

Or making believe she kidnapped the baby and it was still alive to get money. Brandon was dead before she left their house. She has always claimed (though not sure now) that it was an accident and she left w/his body because she got scared. She said she just dropped him once. Evidence of that baby's head injuries show that she must have shook him a while and tossed him around. It was awful. The money thing came out of her panic and trying to figure out how to get out of dodge. I'll never forget watching the news and being horrified at the grave she put him in. He was partially buried, as if half-hazzardly. She knew what she had done was wrong and her only concern was herself.

I know her only concern was herself. I was just pointing out you can't extort someone after the body has been found only before. As usual criminals don't think.

While applauding the States for still having the ultimate penalty i do think it's impact is lessened by the fact it takes sometimes 20 years of appeals etcetra to carry out.
If no doubt of guilt and tried and convicted lets have these scumbags dead and buried months afterwards instead of years.I think this would have a greater impact and detterant. As for this woman....fry her until she turns to a crisp then grind her underfoot and wash whats left down the gutter!

Execution Date To Be Set For Convicted Baby Killer
A woman convicted of killing a baby more than 12 years ago will learn the date of her execution on Monday. The decision will be announced at the Travis County Justice Complex. The case dates back to January 1994. That's when 3-month-old Brandon Baugh disappeared. He was in the care of his baby sitter, Cathy Lynn Henderson. A month later, investigators found the baby's body buried in a wine box near Temple in Bell County. A jury later convicted Henderson of killing the infant. For Brandon's parents, the wait for Henderson's final punishment has been excruciating. KXAN reporter Shannon Wolfson spoke with them via telephone on Sunday about the case and has this report. Imagine losing a child to murder, and the killer is a trusted baby sitter. For the parents of Brandon, that's been a horrifying reality. But they hope Monday, inside the Justice Complex, they'll be one step closer to justice for Brandon. In February 1994, former Travis County Sheriff Terry Keel said of Henderson, "She is uncaring. She is smug to the extent that she appears to be perfectly at ease, if not amused." Nearly 13 years ago, Henderson began a nightmare. With the judge scheduled to sign her death warrant just hours from now, we spoke with the Baughs by phone, from their home outside of Dallas. Wolfson asks, "When you hear the name Cathy Henderson, what is your feeling?" Eryn Baugh, Brandon's father, replies: "In one word, rage. The last 13 years is just time that's gone by. Life's been on hold. We've been waiting for justice to happen. We're looking forward to having this put to an end. Finally, some closure and being able to move on." But as we learned for the Baughs, moving on means looking back. "He was really tiny," said Brandon's mother, Melissa Baugh. "He was really sweet. Great baby." In pictures, his bright, brown eyes and sweet smile are reminders of all that would never be. As Eryn put it, "So many hopes and aspirations that I had for Brandon, and all those were just taken away in a moment of her rage." The Baughs have been a constant presence in the courtroom over the years. Eryn says Monday will be no different. "This is something we've been waiting for. It's been about 12 and a half years since the trial's been over with, and it's just the next step before we finally see justice done." Eryn and Melissa will be in Judge John Wisser's courtroom Monday morning for the signing of the death warrant. Wolfson asked them if they wanted to be there when Henderson is executed. Their answer: "Absolutely." After the judge signs the warrant, Henderson's attorneys will have a chance to appeal to the Supreme Court. The High Court can either choose to hear the case and issue a stay or refuse to hear it completely. If that happens, the execution will likely be carried out at the end of February. www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp?S=5705396

Woman on Texas death row gets execution date
A woman condemned for the slaying of a 3-month-old child she was baby-sitting in her home in 1994 was given an execution date Monday. Cathy Lynn Henderson, 49, was set for lethal injection April 18 for the death of Brandon Baugh, whose body was found stuffed in a wine cooler carton and buried in a field outside Temple in Bell County, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Henderson's Austin-area home. The discovery came nearly three weeks after the child was first reported missing. Henderson's attorneys had asked State District Judge Jon Wisser at a brief hearing Monday to wait until the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled on their appeals. Travis County prosecutors had sought an execution date in February. "The date for her execution is inconvenient for her," Eryn Baugh, whose infant son was killed more than 12 years ago, told the Austin American-Statesman Monday outside court. "The date for her murdering our son was inconvenient for us." Henderson, who has contended she is innocent, was convicted in 1995 when a jury agreed with prosecutors who argued the woman smashed the child's head with a blunt object while she was baby-sitting him and his older sister. Henderson fled to her home state of Missouri. According to testimony at her trial, when arrested in Independence, Missouri, she told a childhood friend she had killed someone she described as a male and wanted to change her identity. FBI agents said Henderson gave several stories about the baby's disappearance before finally saying he fell from her arms while she was answering the phone and hit his head on the floor. A medical examiner, however, said that was impossible because of the severity of the child's fatal injuries. Henderson argued in previous appeals the trial court improperly forced her lawyers to turn over maps of where the child was buried. The maps never were used in court and did not play a role in her conviction, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled in 1997. Henderson would be the fourth woman executed in Texas since the state resumed carrying out the death penalty in 1982. In that time, 377, men have been put to death. Of the 389 condemned inmates in Texas, Henderson is one of 10 women. www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/11/20/america/NA_GEN_US_Texas_Female_Execution.php
