I think Johnny is the last for 2013. He should be proud for that Distinction! He was one of five men who beat to death rancher Bill Pogue and stabbed his son-in-law Richard Lewis in 1998 in Stephens County. He was convicted in 1999. Testimony indicates that the attack was a case of mistaken identity. Black, his two brothers, Jesse J. Black and Jimmy Lee Roy Black, and Cal Eugene Shankles and Robert William Seals stopped a sport utility vehicle on a dirt road and dragged Pogue and Lewis from the vehicle. The defendants had been searching for two men in a similar vehicle for a fight. After the incident, the defendants realized that they had attacked the wrong people, testimony shows. Shankles is serving a life sentence for the fatal beating plus 10 years for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Jesse Black and Jimmy Black each are serving 25 years for first-degree manslaughter and seven years for assault with a dangerous weapon. Johnny Black had previously served eight years of a 15-year prison sentence for a 1984 manslaughter conviction in Cleveland County. He also escaped from the Jefferson County Jail while awaiting trial and left a threatening letter to the county sheriff.

I will be looking forward for this one as well. If only we had many more of these, the world would have been a much better one for all of us.

You know , I don't understand why these people take chances & murder people. In a death penalty state like Oklahoma & Texas, you now they will kill your Azze.

He insisted he murdered by stabbing 11 times, broken ribs & both lungs punctured ? But he got the wrong guy? Oh, well that makes a big difference. Guess it does make the victims family feel much better

The DP does not cross their minds or care, nor do they care about the victims..( only when it is their azz). The DP may have stopped some from going over the line. Why do many people put their lives on the line? To honor, protect, , tempting fate, sport related, most thankfully do this thru love of something or others. Oddly, some get a thrill out of killing people off for fun, greed, hate, lust or control.. or just for the thrill/rush of it.

I agree some people don't give a damn & think they are smarter than everyone else, until they are sitting on death row complaining about how they got there..

Humanity's toilet has been flushed. Hasta la vista, creep. Not flushed enough. His two brothers are locked up for manslaughter. Just noticed that if Johnny had served his full sentence for a previous manslaughter conviction, this murder would not have happened.

I'm satisfied and very pleased justice has been served. The more the better.

Anti's leave this happening out of the equation, when using we could end up executing an innocent in debate's. Although this " factually" does happen too often, they get a chance to murder yet again. More innocents end up murdered " too often...

If you peruse the death row site in Texas, you will notice that about half of those on death row should have been in prison when they committed the crime that led to a death sentence.
I noticed recently that Texas stopped providing that information. Embarrassed, I guess.
