The HufPo StoryThis happened from a few miles from where I live, in Albuquerque NM. Coincidentally, my mother is friends with the Fathers, Aunt. The good reverend gave his kid full access to the weapons for home defense. The kid had been showing suicidal/homicidal tendency's before the incident. The Father should have seen the warning signs and restricted the kids access to the weapons, and as a result an entire family dead. The household was a very strict super religious house. Kids were only to do activities that only involved the church. It appears that when the kid was showing signs of depression, it was dismissed as he must not have enough Christ in his heart, and is succumbing to the evils of Santan. Instead of getting the kid psychiatric help, the answe was bible reading and prayer instead. Wonder how that turned out

I think this is one of the risks of having weapons in the house. They can be used by your loved ones against you.
I think one notorious case is Bart Whitaker. He told his paid henchmen where to find the gun, and Whitaker's mother and brother were executed with the gun that was owned by the Whitaker family themselves. Bart's parents had no idea what a cold blooded killer their son was, despite the police having no issues finding that out. They even gave Bart the benefit of the doubt on a prior murder plot
The signs were there, but the family missed it

I really would not knock going to the church either, some of them seem better then the psychiatric services for turning around people with so called personality disorders.

Churches are funny with regards to mental illness. Some churches insist that their members seek help for the slightest unhappiness and others won't even encourage even their most severest mentally ill members to go an seek help.

He should not have had access to that gun. If it were not for that irresponsible crap, this could have been avoided, if the guns were locked up in a proper safe. If he did not getc caught in time, he was planning on shooting up a local wal mart. The problem with a lot of evangelicals, are that they tend to be very fanatical. In fact I find it funny that most Christians who are fanatical tend to ignore the fundamentals of the man they worship. In fact when you read the bible the main theme in the new testiment is how Jesus rebukes people who goto church think they are holy but treat people like *crap*. Somehow I don't think they got that memo.

I read the Grand Jury Indictment, but what I don't get is the child abuse indictment. Pardon my naivety on the subject, but doesn't abuse have to be going on long-term for there to be child abuse?

Here is the law in new Mexico no time limit What Constitutes AbusePhysical, emotional or psychological abuse including sexual abuse, exploitation, abandonment, or neglect, torture, confinement, cruel punishment - See more at: statelaws.findlaw.com/new-mexico-law/new-mexico-child-abuse-laws.html#sthash.J6mUk4nz.dpufI am guessing the extreme emotional abuse from the the parents dying might be applied. It could be the DA reaching who knows if the evidence will be there to support it. I am guessing we shall see. It could be a poor attempt from the DA to add stacked charge in order to keep him locked up longer.
