yes, the EC was the primary form of execution in TN when Pike was sentenced. TN switched to LI soon after so, I believe, Pike may have the choice of EC or LI. Not sure about the choice part but I think it has to do with a state having to make good on the actual death sentence in which the method of execution is stated.
I'm not so sure about the impossibility of faking a lie dectector test and fooling trained psychologists. If that kind of accuracy existed, crimes would be much easier to solve. As it is, when folks pass a lie dectector test they and their supporters believe that it is 100% accurate. If they fail, however, they simply re-state how inaccurate they are.

DE,
Yes, i'm now 100% sure that it's the Pike case I saw now you told me that TN used to have the EC. I believe she's a choice if she's executed by LI or by EC. honestly, I don't believe she gets executed, TN doesn't execute that much. Maybe because the people in TN are against the DP ?
you can solely pass a lie detector but not when you're attached to a lie detector and a trained psychologist looks you straight into your eyes and asks the question. there's no way you can pass that. One wrong eye blink and the trained psychologist will know right away if you lie or noy. Maybe, i'm naive, but I don't think so

, I don't believe she gets executed, TN doesn't execute that much. Maybe because the people in TN are against the DP ? You are correct in that TN does not execute very often. Only one since DP was reinstated. However, I doubt it is because people in TN are against the DP. To be honest, DP is rarely even mentioned in the news. Occasionally, Workman gets a mention in the Memphis news whenever he gets one of a seemingly endless supply of stays and that is probably just because he killed a Memphis police officer. I don't know what the problems are or even where exactly the bottleneck is here in TN. I know I have never had a chance to cast a vote regarding the DP in TN. There are no anti-dp demonstrations whenever these idiots get a date so they can't really claim credit. Apparently the wheels of justice slower than usual here. If that idiot, James Earl Ray, hadn't died several years ago, his case would still be in the appeals courts arguing about the ballistics tests on the gun that killed Dr. King. Nearly 40 years after the crime!

Wow, so James Earl could still be in the appeal process 40 years after the crime ?? The only executed person in TN after 1976, was in 2000 and I don't think that the execution of christa will ever happen.
