"A judge dismissed all charges Friday in a second capital murder prosecution of convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad, ruling that the state violated his right to a speedy trial. "
This is the primary reason for multiple trials. This man has received his fair day in court twice. This murder of FBI analyst Linda Franklin was exceptionally brutal, but the law is the law and even John Muhammad is entitled to fair treatment under the law. However, he still has been convicted and is under two death sentences.

I agree with your opinion on the two convictions (which eventually maybe one will hold up on appeal)...but doesn't it stand to reason that they weren't in a position to give him a speedy trial because he was already on trial for another murder??? Not sure I understand the reasoning the judge gave...... FBI analyst Linda Franklin is entitled to her justice......

The judge here has perverted the law and he knows it. This multiple murderer's right to a speedy trial exists for the same reason that everybody has a right to a speedy trial. That right was not created to protect multiple murderers from justice. The right to a speedy trial was created to prevent governments from keeping people in jail awaiting trial. This multiple murderer was already in jail and the timing of his next trial had nothing to do with how long he was going to be in jail. The judge and the lawyers who requested the dismissal should be disbarred. I can't believe this happened in Virginia. If it had been California it wouldn't have surprised me. What should they have done try him at the same time, wouldn't have that been interesting?

They all come from the whacked-out law schools. The only thing that varies is the density. That is both the density of the judge's bone head and the density of the distribution of the whacked-our judges.

Well yet again a liberal minded pervert has abused the American justice system.Nothing really new about this,it happens on a minute by minute basis every day the court is in session. This guy and his young partner terrorized the entire nation, they gave us nor their victims any fairness I fail to see where they are entitled to any.But we as supporters do for once hold the upper hand,he already is under a death sentence and as we can unfortunately only kill him once we all need to bomb the Va Gov and voice a desire that this bastard join his victims in a early grave.KILL THE KILLER

Why would you want to pay for multiple trials? He already has a death sentence. I would find that a waist of tax payers money.

I posted this for one specific reason; we cannot let this go again. His hands are bloody from his exploits and I will not rest until the sentence is carried out. This man continues to manipulate the system just as he has done all along. I wrote this to ensure the other states on the list do not forget what has been done. He will be tried again. The two death sentences are not enough because he has two very high profile lawyers that feel they will be doing the right thing in commuting his sentence to LWOP. This would truely be a travesty of justice. jp

Why would you want to pay for multiple trials? He already has a death sentence. I would find that a waist of tax payers money. First off, appeals happen. And appeals can be a roll of the dice from the prosecutions standpoint. So, the more death penalty sentences he has, the better his odds of not escaping that fate. Also, the cases that are not tried are still officially open, since there is no conviction. The police quietly close the case, but the victim never has justice for the crimes committed against them. Ted Bundy had three Florida death sentences. Two, from the Chi Omega murders, were under appeal. He was executed for murdering little Kimberly Leach. The more death sentences a murderer justly receives, the safer society is.
