Today is 14 days before Thomas Ivey is scheduled to be put to death in South Carolina. By state law since he was sentenced before June 8, 1995 he is to be put to death by electrocution, unless he chooses lethal injection 14 days prior to execution by written waiver. As soon as anyone gets any info on it post it here.

This will be interesting. My father and I had a conversation along these same lines last week. I worked as an electrician for many years and have had my share of accidental electrical shock and I have had major surgery requiring general anesthesia. I would have to opt for the LI. The low voltages I experienced were nothing compared to Old Sparky.

The low voltages I experienced were nothing compared to Old Sparky. Which is probably why it hurt. I like to fantasize about a murderer writhing in agony as the electricity rips through his body and cooks him from the inside out. But in reality, I believe that it is pretty much instant lights-out as soon the switch is thrown. On any account, LI is certainly not a man's death, and any death row inmate looking to regain a shred of dignity should feel fortunate if he has the chance to opt of electrocution. The only beef I have is that they make the guy wear a hood. Screw that. Strap him down and give him the chance to look everyone in the eye up until the moment he starts frying.

Yes it hurt. It was described by a fellow electrician as:
1. Smelling Ozone 2. Tasting Copper 3. Feeling the wrath of God
Pretty much in that order. I still have the burn scars and the irregular heart beat. I swear the lights flicker when I walk into the room - a few leftover electrons.

I want him to choose LI, just so someone can FINALLY show us what their lethal injection gurney looks like.
Where there any other killers in this boat?

South Carolina decided to post the electric chair, but not the gurney. That is stupid.

It looks like this chicken is set to fry And Glamgiu, it is NEVER worth missing out on a rare electrocution just to get a pic of a gurney.

Still no choice, but I can assume he'll pull a stunt like Flint did.

So we have no idea what he's chosen? I don't think he has chosen, which means it looks like we are going to score an electrocution here.

Which method takes longer? Is it LI or Electrocution?

Which method takes longer? Is it LI or Electrocution? Id say LI. I doubt you'd feel anything after the initial zap of electricity.

But some accounts say that the inmates are still awake, and this happened with Willie Francis. Which leads me to believe that the electrodes weren't properly attached.

Either way I will salute his execution with a cold one, but I am hoping he gets the chair.

Either way I will salute his execution with a cold one, but I am hoping he gets the chair. Ivey was convicted of killing officer Thomas Harrison at the Prince of Orange Mall in January 1993. Authorities say Harrison was questioning Ivey's friend, who was trying to buy items with a stolen check. Prosecutors say Harrison let Ivey go when he shot the officer six times. Ivey, who was 18 at the time, said his gun went off accidentally, then he panicked. Authorities say Ivey tried to escape from death row in 1999, and assaulted a guard in 2007. It's so sad that gun went off accidentally and shot that Officer six (6) times...This POS needs to be electrocuted on the gurney. He is long overdue....Hope he busts Hell Wide open..

I cannot find anything more on the subject. Doesn't a media advisory have to bee prepared if he chooses the chair?
