how do they decide to use a 6 person jury in florida and specifically for the george zimmerman trial. seems like a 2nd degree murder trial would warrent a 12 person jury. just wondering...

Florida routinely uses 6 person juries except for first degree murder. This passed constitutional muster some years ago.

ok thx. i would think that would make it easier for the prosecution. but the zimmerman trial proved otherwise.

6 seems to make more sense anyway. My understanding that 12 was arbitrary with possible biblical overtones, I.e 12 apostles. My question why not a nice round numbering 10?
