The blue line represents all law enforcement who daily protect this nation. The black background was designed as a constant reminder of our fallen officers. This 'thin blue line" is what stands between us and violent criminals. In honor of the four murdered Lakewood Police Officers in Washington State, I choose to join the effort to honor these fallen officers by changing my profile image until after their funerals. Please consider doing so as well.

I can't help but notice that mine and TheBroker's thin blue line avatars are bigger than everyone elses. Does that mean that we are way cooler?

Char: a lot of people having the same avatar is confusing to me, so, I've used the shoulder patch of the Lakewood PD. My sentiments mirror yours exactly, though. Great idea.

Whilst I greatly respect police officers for what they have to deal with and the job they are given, especially these that were killed in the line of duty, I chose to keep my shark avatars.
It defines me in a way and I too have found it a bit confusing with so many of the same avatars.
So I will be individual, or at least like the rest that didn't change them ;D , and keep mine and silently wish the Lakewood officers rest in peace.

I don't disrespect fallen officers. I just don't see how this makes a difference and find it strange that you consider this an appropriate way of honoring someone. Officers are just doing their job enforcing the laws even though I don't agree with all of them, and primary purpose is to keep people safe from burglars and other criminals. I'm okay with that.

I don't disrespect fallen officers. I just don't see how this makes a difference It makes NO differnece. It's just a way of honoring something. By saying this is stupid is not honoring anything. It's saying that those who are trying to make a statement to honor somebody or something is stupid. I don't agree with MANY of them. But it's not the fault of the person who choses to make a career enforcing them. They should be treated with respect and in turn they will, or should, treat you with respect. On the top of my list of "bad" things is dirty cops and abusing cops. I am not sure but I think their primary purpose is "keeping the peace". That they have to deal with burglars and other criminals, also their job, is the really bad side effect of their job discription. That they would actually put their life above and beyond their duty to do so is true dedication. And that merits a great deal of respect. So whether or not you personally want to, like I didn't, show your respect for them in this certain way you shouldn't call it stupid.

I am keeping my picture. As I AM the manifestation of the Champion Eternal on this plane.
I honor and respect our officers, fallen from violence or old age. They are all heroes.

The fact that we want to honor fallen officers is what this is about, you say it is stupid. My question now is why is honoring them stupid? I understand why a dope head may think that being a officer is stupid but why would honoring a fallen one be considered stupid?
