I know it's not polite to criticise another country's legal system, but he has been on death row for 25 years. With a week to go for his execution date, they launch 6 appeals and even get a 3 hour delay for another appeal. How is this possible?

That's part of due process, which is what distinguishes the U.S. system from that of other countries. In the U.S., when a person is sentenced to death, he is not taken out and executed immediately following the sentence, or within a week, or within 6 months, after one direct appeal.
In the U.S., inmates have direct appeal, state post-conviction/habeas, federal habeas and each decision of the state trial/district court is reviewed by at least one appellate court and, in some states, by two appellate courts. In the federal system, the decision of the district court is reviewed by the intermediate court of appeals and then, in some cases, the U.S. Supreme Court. Even after that process is exhausted (which takes decades), if the inmate files claims after having an execution date set, the inmate can get a stay that delays, or postpones the execution for another period of up to a year (or a decade).

Because the people of Missouri, like the people of California, like to sentence murderers to death, but don't want to actually execute them.

Our system is too generous towards murderers, the anti's are the ones who end up doing the torturing of murderers as well as the victims & victims families for decades, anti's are in the end of it all are the one's actually responsible for a botched execution. Yet, they know how to end life mercifully thru euthanasia.

Yet, they know how to end life mercifully thru euthanasia. And yet they're supposedly in the minority. How is that, therefore, possible, without the complicity of those who, allegedly, support capital punishment? No state constitution prevents the "pros" from speeding up the process, nor does the federal constitution. The legislatures and attorneys-general of the squeamish DP states, however, do nothing. They all buy into the argument that perfect justice is achievable and desirable. Perfect justice is neither, which is obvious to anyone with a brain.

Perfect justice is neither, which is obvious to anyone with a brain. Well, perfect is not achievable as we can witness with crimes getting more violent, around the world. Not desirable to see what is going on as well as it is escalating. So, spare me if I do not believe being selfrightous will save us. Complicity is the killer. That's a no brainer. I do not know why the silent majority is staying in the background on the DP, maybe like an old friend told me just the other day, hey, if it does not directly affect our family, were staying out of it. On the same hand they say, they hate the way our country has become a bunch of wimps..go figure?
