On March 19, 1998, in San Antonio, Vasquez and co-defendants strangled to death and robbed Juanita Ybarra, 51, as an ordered hit from the Mexican Mafia because she was not paying 10 percent to the Mafia. The victim's partner was severely beaten but survived.
Vasquez was sentenced to death in Bexar County in November 1999.

Vasquez strangled his victim with a telephone cord. Interesting to note that Texas has only 2 LI doses left with 7 executions scheduled.

Vasguez had a long record, one conviction involved the beating of a man who died after his body was set on fire.
Vasguez's father is serving a life sentence for murder, also his brothers & cousins have been or are in prison.
To add" I did make a mistake in my first post, it was a man not a women, he beat & set on fire.

Thanks. Certainly was not a nice person. Nope, his direct family, & mafia family are not nice folks. A qualified execution no doubts.

One of the biggest inmate complaints I hear is the food they are served. Texas doesn't give last meal requests, so the condemned inmate gets standard prison food. Vasquez's meal sounds really good, I wonder what it looked like:
"Because Texas no longer allows special last meal requests, Vasquez was given the same food as others in his unit. For his last meal, Vasquez was served Pepper Steak, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, carrots, ranch style beans, sliced bread, and apple glazed cake, with a choice of water, tea, or punch to drink."
