Hey! Any suggestions as to how a speech supporting the death penalty could best be started? I am trying to come up with something that would catch the attention of both my opponent and the audience. Thanks!

do some research on some of the above links. you'll need the names of repeat killers and the victims
start by stating XXX is dead simply because YYY was not executed the first time he/she killed.
repeat with new names of victims and killers
and continue to repeat as necessary

Photos of victims. Preferably the age group you are addressing or little kids.

That letter the bozo sent to the DA bragging about his rapes and murder after he erroneously believed they couldn't charge him with the death penalty, might get people's attention.

Thanks! I only have 5 minutes for this speech so I'm trying to greatly condense it. Do you think it would be beneficial to return to telling stories at the end? I thought it might help leave an impression in the minds of listeners.

Yes. You can also xerox some of the stories and give them to your audience to save time.

Good idea! I ended the speech with that example of Powell v Commonwealth. Powerful stuff.
